WHAT DRIED UP PIECE OF DUNG ARE YOU LOOKING FOR

"These days there are plenty of Temple Priests everywhere who fake it:

why don't you go and join them?

What dry piece of dung are you looking for in here?

                                                                 Yun Men

Really that is a good question. What are you looking for when you enter Dharma web pages? Yunmen called what most look for "a dried piece of dung." It is not that a dried piece of dung does not have its uses. It makes a great fire starter, for example, and as manure it can nourish plants, but hardly a Buddha mind.

You will find all sorts of raw data here concerning the old masters and the great sutras to build your Dharma jigsaw puzzles with. But in the end you will have a very full and pretty picture of the Dharma which you can do little with, except frame it and hang it on a wall like fools do their Dharma Initiations.

There are words of Wisdom which you may quote without understanding and innumerable interesting word presentations of Dharma.

If you are still doing this after many years of fruitless key pressing, then listen to what Yunmen has to say.

"You are putting frost on top of snow, you're blinking an eye in the coffin and are burning on a moxa burn scar."

Do you understand what he is saying? Buddha Dharma is a serious undertaking. One that should be the most important in your life, because if you are not living true Dharma you are shortchanging your own family and your profession.

So what can you do about it? Change both your attitude and the way your mind is moving. Let go of both your apparent sensitivity and intelligence and reach for something superior.
