4. THE SUBTLE METHOD OF THE CAODONG ZONG

The Caodong teachings propose a subtle dialectic of five points in which the illusion of self and the truth of no-self complete and annul themselves entirely.

1. It is to amble with tranquility in the world of Samsara, without preoccupation, without even considering the truth of non-duality, which is beyond the reach of cognitive intellect.

2. It is to be conscious however that the illusory appearances do mask a reality (without naming the non-dual) that covers a truth which is profound, mysterious and harmonious in which the human creature's true face can be known.

4. One must stop Samsaric illusory perception with name and form.

Perception has its support, the world is the end of being, for all is ONE, all phenomena in and of themselves only express the unalterable generosity of the profound.

5. It is folly to cite either the self or non-self. Leave to the ignorant the passion for the unknown directed by the false Self.

Condensing the five points, we find that the method is directed at the VACUITY OF ALL PHENOMENA as opposed to that of Yunmen, directed at VACUITY OF IDENTITY, and that of Linji, directed at the dictatorship and VACUITY OF WORDS.

The key is to avoid all conceptualization of the Truth of Non-Duality.

THE SITTING METHOD

This method requires more than any other a synergy between any performed "sitting meditation" and the "sitting mind" when there is not an actual physical sitting contemplation.

This requires the sitting mind to annul all conscious phenomena, but without there arising any consciousness of anything, even the experiences beyond phenomena are set aside, except the one experience of the true face of Undifferentiated Form which possesses the potential of particularity.

All things observed simply rise and fall in Emptiness. Emptiness then of Emptiness itself is the subtle last conceptualization..Being and non-being simply slip away, revealing the face of true undifferentiated form with its mystery.

3. All phenomena, including that of nature itself, have birth and fall away in the uncreated light which is Emptiness or Vacuity.
