THE UNIQUE AND SUBLIME FUNCTION OF FUNCTION CONTEMPLATION

Here we finally present the Function of Function Contemplation and explain how a specific Last Conceptualization can, with diligence, substitute for the exemplary path of Huineng.

Of course, although the Last Conceptualization is in principle no more difficult than the last Conceptualizations of the other six masters, there is a difference.

It is required to be linked to experiences which cannot be developed through REFLECTION or the consequential COGNITIVE EXPERIENCES (Vitakka and Vicara).

This adds a level of difficulty, so great dedication and patience is required.

One great problem lies with a temptation. It is the Seduction generated by the Life Force itself.

FUNCTION

First you must understand what Function is. 

Identity Function is easy to understand and see and the Greater Function may be understood intellectually with ease. But passing beyond the mere intellectual to the actual Last Conceptualization of the experiences of Function is not easy.

Conceptualization of all phenomena must be set aside and a restructuring of the mind is in part necessary. A glass, for example, must not only be seen NOT to be GLASS, but to be simply CONTAINING and CARRYING.

This means that Containing and Carrying must be experienced without any attachment to appearances.

Let us look at another example. The function of a Piano in terms of Mundane Function is to be played. But what is its deeper function relevant to the piano in and of itself?
