UNDERSTANDING MASTER - STUDENT INTERACTIONS

The Contemplations are, of course, the essential part of all Chan Dharma Practices, for fruit of the Contemplations must lead to the application of a deeper understanding of the Two Truths and the liberation from Identity and Duality.

Just as it is declared, "a lawyer who defends himself has a fool for a client," it is true that he who tries or enters the minefield of Chan Dharma Contemplations generates the situation of "the blind leading the blind."

The interaction between the Master and the Student is different for each of the six sets of temperaments and each was developed by a master who was familiar with the work of other true masters, but developed the support for the meditations not simply by lectures and practical examples but by direct contact with each student, using the base which he had developed for his own original temperament.
